For nearly half my life I’ve been creating through motion pictures. I've worked in different roles in the creative and advertising industries, always focused on the same vision: making stuff happen in the best possible way.
I started my career in the camera department at a German TV station in 2001. I developed an insatiable, vampire-like thirst for knowledge. After being on set for many years, I moved into post-production to understand more about the craft of storytelling in the editing. I wanted to learn more about VFX, compositing, and motion design, which naturally pushed me to learn more software and tools to achieve my creative vision.
At the same time, technology changed and I learned to use a wide variety of cameras, lenses, and gimbals. Next on the list was to master the skill of colour grading to ensure the work I was creating looked stunning, whatever brand of a camera I ended up using.
I have always been good with people as such it was a natural path to move into directing especially now with my technical know-how on what's achievable.
I worked full time in New Zealand’s most successful creative agencies, ColensoBBDO, FCB Auckland, 99, TVNZ Blacksand. Since I'm out on my own, I extended the list of award-winning agencies such as Saatchi&Saatchi, TBWA, True, Akkomplice, Young& Shand and more.
I have been fortunate enough to be part of some award-winning work with the biggest global brands like, Visa, Sony, Samsung, Air New Zealand, Spark, Vodafone, Burger King, McDonald’s, All Blacks, Black Caps, V Energy, Mountain Dew, BMW, Mini, Mazda, Hyundai, Land Rover, Lexus, Lotto and more…
Today, I’m working in creative development, conceptualization, direction, cinematography, editing, and colour grading; I use a wide range of my skill-set on a daily base.
I’ve always been passionate about storytelling but now I'm able to use all of my experience to bring ideas to life while identifying and solving problems along the way. Every brief is a challenge to get involved, with the creative concept as just one part of the solution. I love a good challenge and the process of crafting the best possible result in a brief for any project.
In my spare time I love to just hang out with my family, do some sort of adventure stuff with the little man, hang out in the water kite-boarding, go snowboarding, race downhill on the mountain bike or you can find me in the mud with my Kawasaki KX250 dirt bike and a big smile on my face.
Whatever helps to push the limits.
